Enabling eCooking in Jhumsa Khola Micro Hydro Project (COSMO-phase 1)
Start date: January, 2023 End date: July, 2023 Location: Mathagadhi Rural Municiaplity, Ward No: 5, Palpa Work Accomplished: During the initial feasibility phase of eCooking appliance adoption, several key activities were completed. Household surveys and focus group discussions were conducted to evaluate the financial condition of households, existing cooking practices, types of fuel used, and their willingness to adopt eCooking. Additionally, assessments of household wiring and the impact of pollution caused by burning firewood for cooking were carried out. The feasibility study also identified strategies for creating a sustainable supply chain and detailed an implementation plan for promoting eCooking in the region.
In-depth Exploration of Cooking Entirely with Electricity
Start date: October, 2022 End date: February, 2023 Location: Bhaktpur, and Bharatpur Work Accomplished: During the implementation phase, eCooking appliances were distributed to five households in each of the Bhaktapur and Bharatpur locations. A two-month study was conducted to compare the time and cost of cooking with traditional fuels versus eCooking appliances. Consumers' existing cooking practices were analyzed, and efforts were made to encourage behavior change towards adopting eCooking. Additionally, comprehensive financial and technical analyses were carried out to evaluate the feasibility and impact of the intervention.
